I think Kent’s print Salt Water Jetty is terrific. Every time I walk into the room and see it, I remember going on a family pilgrimage to see Robert Smithson’s Spiral Jetty in the Great Salt Lake in Utah. From Promontory Point, it’s a long drive over horrendous roads (we blew out the tires of our rental car). We wondered if arriving would be a big let-down.

Wow! This earthwork thing really did it for me. I haven’t experienced much art like it that really pushed all my buttons so wonderfully. So then I’m telling relatives in Utah about it, and none of them seemed to know what I was talking about.

Is Spiral Jetty Utah’s greatest art treasure?

This is my favorite project that the Mormon Artists Group has undertaken. Luckily, I was able to see the original in Glen’s apartment when I visited NYC in February. My wife and I really want one but need to pay off some art school loans first. Hope it’s still around. Nice work Kent.

I imgine that this print is for those “in the know” about contemporary art. From the comments above, I am sure that most folks living in Utah don’t know about it. I love the real Spiral Jetty, and I love this print. Seeing this for the first time in this group of works by LDS Artists is surely fun for me as I have taught art at the college level for over 30 years and have refered to it many times. I am a ceramist and use “earth materials” beyond the traditional clay in my works and my students have also been inspired towards installation and earth works as well. I would love to own this print, but as an artist myself, have little money. It doesn’t say how much it costs, unframed? I can frame my own.

Casey and Daleene (and others who are in the same boat), Mormon Artists Group has always had a policy to help collectors, particularly those with limited funds. When I first came to New York and wanted to buy art, the galleries were extraordinarily generous to me and let me pay a tiny amount each month. So we extend that kind of service to anybody without interest. We arrange installment payments as low as $25 a month. For artists who want to acquire Kent’s print, let’s talk about bartering. I’d be happy to purchase the prints for you and then exchange your artwork for it. Sound appealing?
